Hibiscus

There are over 200 species of Hibiscus, growing across warm subtropical and tropical regions worldwide, including the Pacific Islands, Africa and Asia. Hibiscus sabdariffa, also known as rosella, is native to west Africa, with evidence suggesting it was domesticated in Sudan as early as 4000 BCE, where its seeds were ground down and used as a source of nutrition. It also held a place in ancient Egyptian tradition, where it was referred to as the "Tea of the Pharaohs".
